General House

Below you’ll find general house information to help make your stay as easy as possible.

The wifi network is called BTB-RTCG58. The password is d6FDVU6FGDNdQV.

There is also a wired internet connection in the office (small pink room upstairs).

The heating is controlled by a nest which is in the dining room – please do not unplug this or it will stop the heating/hot water coming on.

In winter and spring and autumn as required the heating will be set to a schedule. It will have a minimum temperature – please don’t turn it above 19 if you need it back on.

The house is very old and the all glazing is single glazed as that is required due to it being listed. We have spent a lot of money on excellent thermal curtains so do shut them and the house will warm up and stay warm – if you don’t shut the curtains the house wont get warm.

We have a hot water tank in the house (ie it isnt a combi boiler) this is good because it means multiple people can shower at the same time.

However it means if you use the hot water it will need about 30 mins to warm back up. We schedule the water to come on for 2 hours in the morning and further two late afternoon, this should be more than enough for a full house bathing/showering but if you have multiple baths then you may need to boost the hot water (using nest in dining room next to plant).

The TV is on demand only – so you can use BBC iplayer / channel 4 / channel 5 / ITV. You can log into your own Netflix / Disney etc if you have them.

To use the tele turn on with the green button, press the home button and scroll down to the apps you want.

There is a log burner in the living room. When we stay we always leave enough kindling/logs for the next guests to start a fire. You are more than welcome to use the log burner but please do leave enough for the next guest to start a fire – I am afraid if you don’t find logs when you arrive then someone broke the chain of passing some on.

The bath is one of everyone’s favourite features of the house – please be aware that it does not have an overflow. So if you are running a bath please do not leave it unattended – we have excellent water pressure so it fills very quickly!

Our garden is an absolute sun trap – so be careful you can get burnt very easily! The garden is lovely so it is there for guest to enjoy. However we do ask that you are respectful to our neighbours in terms of noise and also not using the garden after 10pm.

Unfortunately there is a bit of a dip in the tiling on the top layer where a puddle can gather. There is a brush hanging on the outside wall to brush this away if needed.

Our house is in a residential area. We ask you to be respectful of our neighbours at all times. No parties are allowed in the house and we ask that you are mindful of noise levels throughout your stay, especially outside social hours.

We do have a noise monitor in the house (this does not record you but just monitors noise in decibels). If you are making inappropriate levels of noise it will contact you through Airbnb to ask you keep noise down.

We love dogs – we are dog owners ourself. However we ask you to follow the same rules we apply for our dogs – this includes no dogs in bedrooms or on any furniture. If your dog uses the garden then please clean up after them.

There are many wonderful beaches around to take 4 legged friends to – however note that in high season some beaches have restrictions on taking your dog/keeping them on a lead so do check out the Margate beach map here.

There is a beach blanket and a few games in the chest in the pink office upstairs and further games in the kitchen cupboards. Please replace everything for other guests and if you do use the beach blanket please ensure its sand free and washed as needed for other guests.

There is a travel cot under the bed in the black master suite (be careful of fingers and back the bed is HEAVY to lift up). Bedding isn’t kept at the house so you will need to provide your own.
There is a drying wrack under the bed in the brown bedroom upstairs
There is an iron and small on table ironing board in the kitchen cupboard

Fire extinguishers
Fire extinguishers are located: in the kitchen, on the top landing attached to the wall and in the living room attached to a wall.

Fire evacuation
Fire evacuation instructions are by the front door – please do make yourself familiar with them in case of an emergency

First aid kit
There is a first aid kit in the kitchen, normally located in the cupboard to the left of the fire place. Do help yourself if you need anything but please make us aware so it can be replenished for the next guest
