A bit about us & the house

We are Ben and Ailsa and we are super happy to be hosting you in our house! You have likely spoken to our wonderful host Stef in regards to your booking.

If you want to know a bit about us and the house then read on, if not I hope the information here is useful for your stay! If you have any questions that aren’t answered then please don’t hesitate to reach out and us or Stef will come back to you as soon as we can.

We purchased the house in 2021, at that time it had been empty for several years, it had no working running water, some extremely dodgy electrics and had been carved up into some questionable flats. It took us 18 months to restore the house to what it looks like today – including doing a large proportion of the work ourselves with the help of our two dachshunds.

The house is a grade II Georgian Town House. Because of its listed status the purpose of the renovation was to try and bring it back to its former glory, anything original we salvaged and restored and in a lot of places we reinstated features which had been lost – eg coving and interior doors.

We put our heart and soul and one hell of a lot of our lives into renovating the house so we hope you love it as much as we do and have a wonderful stay. Somewhere floating around the house, normally in the kitchen, there is a photo book which shows a bit of the journey we have been on.
